“Magic, Miracles, Man Of Sin, Money”

Yes, they grab my attention too. I find it very interesting to watch those who perform magic tricks. With the slight of hand they cause people to be amazed and drawn in to themselves. It’s also interesting to try to figure out how the magician did what he did. Sometimes a magician will reveal a few of his tricks to others. Hypnotists also are interesting to watch as they cause people to do unusual things. Usually they are done for entertainment, but this could also be used for seemingly good purposes or for evil.

Magic. It’s nothing new and has captivated the minds of many people for centuries. Some of the early Christians in Ephesus were caught up in magic, superstition, witchcraft and other works of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21).  They also had purchased books that dealt with such things.  Some of them wanted the power that went along with it just like people in many churches today want it.  You’ll want to read the story about the seven sons of Sceva (a Jewish chief priest) who got a whipping by an evil spirit (demon).  After it happened the early Christians realized the dangers associated with magic.  So they burned such books (Acts 19:11-20). The cost of them was fifty thousand pieces of silver (Acts 19:19).  Do you know what the Scriptures have to say about those who engage in sorcery, witchcraft, idolatry and other works of the flesh (1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Revelation 21:8)?

Miracles. We understand a miracle to be the circumvention of the normal laws of nature. God used some of His prophets in the Old Testament times to perform miracles to validate the messenger or his message. Examples: Moses before Pharaoh in Egypt (Exodus 7-12), Elijah and Elisha  before the idolatrous kings of Israel and the Jewish people (1 Kings; 2 Kings). God also gave the gift of miracles to some of the early New Testament Christians (1 Corinthians 12:28) to authenticate the words of the Apostles and Prophets (Acts 19:11, 12; 2 Corinthians 12:12) before the New Testament Scriptures were completed around A.D. 95. Once the Scriptures were complete in the days of the Apostle John, God ceased giving certain spiritual gifts to Christians (1 Corinthians 13:10). Do you know which spiritual gifts were temporary and which are still extant? Are you seeking one that isn’t being given to Christians today? How can you discover your spiritual gift and use it with love?

Man Of Sin. During the seven years of Tribulation the Antichrist (Man of Sin) and the False Prophet will perform many miracles to deceive the people left behind after the Rapture occurs (2 Thessalonians 2:9; Revelation 13:1-18). They will be given the ability to perform the same kind of miracles that Christ performed while He was on earth (Acts 2:22; 5:12; 2 Corinthians 12:12). God’s two witnesses in Jerusalem will also be performing miracles for 3 ½ years during the last half of the Tribulation. Discover for yourself what they will do and why they will be hated by the people of the world (Revelation 11:3ff). The 144,000 Jewish witnesses, from the 12 tribes of the children of Israel, will scatter out into the whole world to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom (Revelation 7:5-8; Matthew 24:14). These days may be very near at hand. Where will you be found when they occur? Ask for our FREE “Dispensational Chart” that explains where we may be in time. You might be shocked too.

Money. Today there are many charlatans and false teachers (2 Peter 2:1ff; Jude 1:4ff) who make merchandise of the Word of God and pretend to be faith healers (1 Timothy 6:5). Many of them twist the Scriptures to make it say what they want it to say (2 Peter 3:16). Their methodologies are quite different than those of Christ and His apostles (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). Some of them claim to receive new revelations (information from God). They don’t distinguish between revelation and illumination. They deceive their listeners by saying such things as, “God just now gave me this message to me to tell to you.” Often it is associated with money and your need to plant a “seed of faith” so you can get more money back from God. What they say is usually extra Biblical and often contradicts other clear teachings in the Word of God.  Test the spirits by the Word of God (1 John 4:1).  The spiritual gifts of prophecy, tongues, and knowledge and some other gifts ceased to be given to believers in the “Dispensation of Grace” when the Scriptures were completed in the days of the Apostle John (1 Corinthians 13:8-10).  Beware of those who add to or subtract from the completed Bible as the cult do (Revelation 22:18, 19).  We have all we need for life and godliness within the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments (2 Peter 1:3).  The philosophies of men will let you down (2 Corinthians 2:8; James 3:15).

More. Once when a millionaire was asked how much it would take for him to be content, he said, “A little more.” The Scriptures tell us that godliness with content is great gain (1 Timothy 6:6). It also says, The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil…” (1 Timothy 6:10). We, as Christians, can and must use the present world system, but we are not to love it or abuse it (1 John 2:15-17; 1 Corinthians 7:31). Do you know what constitutes the world system and what you’re not supposed to love? What things come between you and God?
