“Read & Grow Rich”

Posted: November 1, 2015 in Bible Study, Reading, Salvation

In my library I have a book with this title.  In it the author quotes what various “successful people” have said about reading.  Examples: “The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read.” – Mark Twain. “Not every reader is a leader, but every leader must be a reader.” – Harry Truman. “Reading, like no other medium, can transform your life in a flash, and you never know which book…at which time in your life…might be the one that rocks your world and inspires you in ways you never thought possible before.” – Burke Hedges (Author of “Read & Grow Rich”).

Best Seller. We’re told that the Bible is the best seller. But it often goes unread or misunderstood by many people.  Are you one of them?  May we help you?  While not claiming to be an expert in the subject, I have been reading and studying it for many years now and would be happy to share what I know with you if you’re teachable and willing to change when you see the truth in God’s Word for yourself (2 Timothy 2:2, 15; 3:16, 17; Acts 17:11)? We have a special chart that might unlock the Bible for you. Ask about it. It’s FREE.

Understanding. With the illumination that came from God through the help of one of my former Bible teachers, I began to understand what the Scriptures were all about.  As I continue to read it, or listen to it being read (1 Timothy 4:13), I realize how much more there is to know, and how little of it I really know and understand.  But rather than throwing up my hands and saying, “This is too hard to understand,” I look forward to reading, studying, and meditating on it daily.

Value. As song writer John Burton wrote, “Holy Bible, Book divine, / Precious treasure, thou art mine; / Mine to tell me whence I came; / Mine to teach me what I am. // “Mine to chide me when I rove; / Mine to show a Savior’s love; / Mine thou art to guide and guard; / Mine to punish or reward. // Mine to comfort in distress; / Suffering in this wilderness; / Mine to show, by living faith, / Man can triumph over death. // “Mine to tell of joys to come, / And the rebel sinner’s doom; / O thou holy Book divine, / Precious treasure, thou art mine.”

Help. Would you like to get to know God better through His Word? Let us know how we can help you learn more about Him and so that you may know (not wish, hope, or think) that you have eternal life as a present possession. He wants us to enjoy the eternal life that He gives to those who believe on Christ as their personal Savior through the Gospel: “Christ died for our sins…and rose again bodily on the third day” (1 John 5:13; John 10:10).
