“The Apostles’ Creed”

Posted: May 12, 2021 in Uncategorized

Do you ever recite or sing “The Apostles’ Creed” (Beliefs) in your church? [1] If so, do you understand and agree with everything it says? If not, with what do you disagree? Please let us know. Will the mere recitation of it or giving mental assent to it save anyone from eternal condemnation with the devil and his angels/demons in the lake of fire (Matthew 25:41, 46)? “You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even demons believe-and tremble” (James 2:19). But they aren’t saved.

Are you absolutely sure you’re headed for heaven the moment you die, without having to go to Purgatory first? Is there such a place? Could you tell a dying person how to be saved with just 24 words? Is it possible for a believer to have assurance of salvation before he/she dies physically?

It may surprise you to know that there are many people in our world today who know little or nothing about the Bible, the true God, Man, Sin, Salvation, the Church, or Future Things. What do you know about these things? Would you like to learn more? If so, why? What would you do with the information? Are you teachable and willing to change for the better (2 Timothy 2:2, 15; 3:16, 17)?

Some people equate the “Gospel for salvation” to be the entire Word of God; Others think it refers to the 4 Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John which, they say, must be believed if someone is to be saved. Problem – What if there is something they don’t fully understand or believe? How could such a person have assurance of salvation? I hear many preachers talk about the Gospel without telling people specifically what it is, and what they need to do in response to it?

The word “Gospel” means “Good News.” In order for there to be “Good News,” there also must be “Bad News” that stands in contrast to it. [2] (See the link below.)

In an article entitled, “Do We Really Know The Gospel?” Dr. Manfred Kober talks about some of the false Gospels being proclaimed today which can’t/don’t save anyone from eternal condemnation. To make sure that you are truly saved (2 Peter 1:10), or if you want to help someone else get saved, we invite you to read carefully what he wrote. He deals with the Human Problem, the Divine Provision, and the Personal Procurement. He shows you how you can present a “Clear Gospel” message with 24 words so an unsaved person, who is about to die, can be saved. (See link below.) [3] Christians who lead others to Christ for salvation can earn “The Crown of Rejoicing” (1 Thessalonians 2:19, 20). What about you? Have you ever lead another person to Christ? Would you like to do this?

To be saved, one needs to know the correct facts of the Gospel (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4). Then he/she needs to give mental assent to the facts. But if a person stops there, he/she isn’t saved yet. There must be a transfer of faith and trust from one’s good works over to the Christ of the Scriptures alone, not toward the Christ of the cults who can’t save anyone (See Matthew 24:4, 5; 2 Corinthians 11:3, 4, 13-15). Read “Which Jesus Saves?” [4]

In His“Sermon on the Mount” Jesus said to some Jews who were anticipating His setting up of His kingdom on/over the earth, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of [the heavens], but he who does the [desirous] will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day [of judgment], ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” (Matthew 7:21-23; See Matt. 25:41, 46). Sad words for anyone to hear, but they are the truth because there is only one way to be saved (John 3:16, 18; 14:6).

Jesus explained what doing “the will of the Father” involved. “[The Jews] said to Him, ‘What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?’ Jesus answered and said to them, ‘This is the work of God, that you believe in Him [Jesus] whom He [God the Father] sent’” (John 6:28, 29). He also said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him [the Father] who sent Me has [eternal] life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life” (John 5:24).

They had to believe that Jesus came forth from God the Father [See John 3:16], and that He shared an absolute equality with God the Father. (See John 1:1-18; Colossians 2:9.) He said, “I and My Father are one” [meaning- we share the same essence.] (John 10:30). For a Jew to be saved today, he/she must believe the same Gospel that non-Jews must believe (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4; Romans 1:16, 17), and he/she must acknowledge and believe in the full Deity of Jesus Christ (See Romans 10:9; 1:16, 17), and trust in Him alone to save him/her. What about you? Have you done this yet? If not, why not now?

Correct Formula: Grace + Faith = Salvation + Works (Ephesians 2:8-10)

Incorrect Formula: Grace + Faith + Works = Salvation (Titus 3:5)

Need Help? If you are not sure about your personal relationship to the Lord Jesus Christ, and that you will go to heaven the moment you die, (rather than having to go to “Purgatory” first), or if you need more help and/or have questions, we can be reached through our website: www.kelseypeach.com. You can have a part in another person’s deliverance from eternal condemnation by SHARING this article with him/her. Jesus said,  “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15; See Acts 1:8). Can we count on you to help us get the Gospel out to others? If yes, please let us know.
