God is very interested in you, what you do, why you do what you do, and how you do it.

“All Scripture [the Bible] is given by inspiration of God [God breathed], and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16 17).

God tells us in words what He wants us to know. The Scriptures (All 66 books of the Old and New Testaments) are good for doctrine (What is right), for reproof (What is not right), for correction (How to get right), and for instruction in righteousness (How to stay right). – Dr. Manfred Kober. It is designed to bring believers to spiritual maturity and to enable them to do the good works that God planned for us to do (Ephesians 2:10; 1 Peter 4:10; John 15:16).

It also tells us how we can avoid having to spend eternity with the devil and his angels/demons in the lake of fire (Matthew 25:41, 46), and how to gain entrance into heaven. [1]

God wants Christians to uphold rulers and leaders in their prayers so that they and other unbelievers can hear the Clear Gospel and be saved and live peaceable and quiet lives in all godliness and reverence (1 Timothy 2:1-4). [1] He also wants Christians to submit to lawful authorities unless they go against God’s laws for us (Acts 5:29; Romans 13:1-7; Hebrews 13:7, 17). He doesn’t want His sheep to follow false shepherds or teachers (John 10:5; Galatians 1:8, 9; 2 Peter 2:1 ff; Jude 1:1 ff).

Human Government

Right after the universal flood, that took place in Noah’s day (Genesis 6-8), God allowed men to rule over other men and the Dispensation of Human Government began (Genesis 9:1-7). (Ask about our FREE “Dispensations Chart” on our website.)

Before we consider how and what man has done since that time, let’s consider some other factors for those who hold authority over others. If you’re a ruler over others (See the list above), you need to realize some things:

Your Authority. It ultimately comes from God. “And He [God] changes the times and the seasons;
He removes kings and raises up kings” (Daniel 2:21; 4:17; Proverbs 21:1). Human rulers who submit to God’s authority are wise indeed (Psalm 2:10-12). Those who aren’t will be crushed eventually.

Your Assessment. God wants the living to “know that the Most High [God] rules in the kingdom of men, Gives it to whomever He will, And sets over it the lowest of men” (Daniel 4:17, 25). This seems to be a general rule. But, take heart, you too can be saved from eternal condemnation, as others have, so you can enter heaven. [1] With God’s help you can/should be a just, noble, and honest ruler over others if you are in such a position.

Your Actions. You are all being evaluated constantly in spite of what some wicked men think (Psalm 10:11-18). To the wicked King Belshazzar of Babylon, God said, “You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting” (Daniel 5:27). How might God evaluate you right now?

Your Accountability. At the “Great White Throne Judgment,” unbelievers will stand before Jesus and be “judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books” (Revelation 20:11, 12; See also Romans 12:14; Hebrews 4:13). The unbeliever’s degree of suffering in the lake of fire will be determined at this time (Matthew 10:15; 11:22). [2]

Your Energizers. As unsaved people we all once “walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air [the devil], the spirit who now works in [energizes] the sons of disobedience” (Ephesians 2:2; See John 8:44). Christians (whether rulers or not) can/should be energized by God the Holy Spirit who indwells us (Philippians 2:13).

Your Eternal Destiny. Christ died for the sins of all mankind, (1 John 2:2) and rose again physically from the dead on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4). But without faith in Him alone, apart from your good works (Ephesians 2:8, i9), neither you or anyone else can enter heaven (John 3:16, 36; 5:24). [1]

Your Motives. Nothing is hidden from the omniscient God. “[God declares] the end from the beginning” (Isaiah 46:10; See also John 2:24, 25; Hebrews 4:13). He knows all about our motives too (1 Corinthians 4:5; Hebrews 4:12).

Your Laws & Commands. Those that contradict God’s Word (The Scriptures) will ultimately fail. “The ungodly are not [like the righteous], But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish” (Psalm 1:4-6; See Acts 5:29)

Let’s Consider Some Of Your Predecessors

A Few Wicked Rulers

Don’t act like they did or expect similar consequences. (1 Corinthians 10:1-13)

Nimrod – Babel. He defied God’s command for the people to scatter out and fill the earth (Genesis 9:1). He set out to establish man’s first “One World Government” over which he wanted to rule. He began building the “Tower of Babel” only to have God come down and change the people’s languages so the work couldn’t continue. This is how and when the different ethnic groups and languages came into being (Genesis 10, 11). Today, there are wicked men trying again to set up another “One World Government” without God or Christ as the “Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).

Pharaoh, King of Egypt – He oppressed the Jews and tried to destroy their unique Jewish identity by killing their baby boys so the Jewish girls would have to marry Egyptian men. Later, another Pharaoh suffered under the Ten Plagues and allowed the Jews to leave Egypt. But he had second thoughts and pursued them again only for him and his army to be drowned in the sea. (Exodus 15:4)

King Ahab & Jezebel – This wicked couple ruled over the 10 Israelite tribes of the north. It was predicted that, upon their deaths, dogs would lick up Ahab’s blood and eat Jezebel’s body, and they did just that (1 Kings 21:19-24; 22:38; 2 Kings 9:36).

Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon – This wicked king’s pride led to his fall. He became like an animal and ate grass for 7 years. After this experience he became a believer in the true and living God and his kingdom graciously was restored to him (Daniel 4).

Herod, King of the Jews – He failed to give God glory and was eaten by worms. (Acts 12:23)

Righteous Rulers

Even though they were not sinless, it was their desire to obey God and rule over His people the way God wanted them to rule. Consider: Moses, Joshua, Samuel, Kings: David, Solomon, Hezekiah et al.

Your Successors

The Anti-Christ & False Prophet. After the True Church as been taken to heaven (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18), these two men will rule over the whole world for seven years of the Tribulation, under Satan’s authority. To learn more about them and “The Order Of Coming Events” see the link below. [2]

The Psalmist’s Counsel

To avoid being crushed by Christ’s rod of iron – “Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, And rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him” (Psalm 2:10-12; See Revelation 19:15). Also, “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly [Do what is right in God’s sight], To love mercy [Be compassionate to those who are suffering], And to walk humbly [not in pride] with your God?” (Micah 6:8). If you have authority over others, will you do this?

What We Have To Do To Be Saved

Perhaps you’re not a true believer yet. If you’d like to become a true Christian, here is what you need to do. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ alone, Who died for your sins…and rose again bodily on the third day, and you will be saved” (Acts 16:31; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4). If you’ve never done this before, do it now! [1] If you need additional spiritual help, contact us here or through our website: www.kelseypeach.com.
