“The Mark Of The Beast – 666”

If you were told that you could become a genius instantly with artificial intelligence (AI), and that you could live forever in perfect health if you had a microchip painlessly inserted under your skin or into your brain, would you take it? I believe most people would.

One very influential young “mover and shaker,” who is part of the World Economic Forum, has called humans “hackable animals” who can become “humans 2.0” and even become gods. [1]

Transhumanism is the belief or theory that the human race can evolve beyond its current physical and mental limitations, especially by means of science and technology.

If you have a modern day cell phone, you probably have asked “Siri” a question and got an answer back almost instantly. You also can tell your phone to give you directions to a particular location and it will most often come up with the right information. (I recall being in the mountains in Washington state once and a sign on the side of the road said, “Don’t depend on directions from your cell phone.” We did it anyway, and we got lost.)

Just prior to the universal flood of Noah’s day, we’re told that there were “giants (Nephilim) on the earth who were mighty men of renown” (Genesis 6:4). If you were living in an agricultural society as they were, without modern day heavy equipment, what father wouldn’t want a strong son-in-law to help out on the farm?

How could he get such a son-in-law? Scripture tells us that “that the sons of God saw that the daughters of mankind were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose” (Genesis 6:2). The fathers of these girls probably had no objections to this arrangement.

There are two views of this verse. Some believe that “the sons of God” [2] refer to the godly line of Seth. Others believe that it refers to some of the fallen angels (demons), who took on humanoid forms, and cohabited with women and produced these giants who were half human and half angelic beings (2.0 transhumans). [3]

A “cyborg” is someone who has technology implanted into his/her body. If you’re an older person, you may remember the TV series of “The Six Million Dollar Man” with Lee Majors.

From Scripture we know that angels can take on human form and look like men and eat food like humans do (Genesis 18:1-8; 19:1 ff; Acts 1:9-11). Some object to this view because they say that the angels don’t marry nor are they given in marriage (Matthew 22:30). Please note that the same verse says that the “angels in heaven” don’t do this. This seems to refer to the good angels.

We understand the Scriptures to teach that just before the universal flood of Noah’s day the devil wanted to genetically pollute the human race from which the promised Messiah was to come (Genesis 3:15) by having some of his fallen angels mix and intermarry with human women. Apparently all of the inhabitants on earth at that time were in some way contaminated except Noah, his three sons, and their wives. The rest of mankind perished in that universal flood (Genesis 8:9). Why?

“Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Genesis 6:5). The Prophet Jeremiah pointed out the same thing about man’s heart. “The heart [of mankind] is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9; See also Romans 3:10-23).

Keep in mind that the continental shift began to take place and the mountains rose up after this universal flood in the days of a man named Peleg (Genesis 10:25). Apparently the earth was one flat land mass before this flood (Genesis 1:9, 10).

We know that God judged these wicked, fallen angels/demons for doing this and confined them to a place called Tartarus (hell – KJV) in the heart of the earth. “For … God did not spare the [fallen] angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell [Tartarus] and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly…” (2 Peter 2:4, 5). “And the [fallen] angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day…” Jude 1:6).

Today there are powerful people, including some in the cults, who want to become gods and have the rest of humanity serve them as their slaves and be happy about having and owning nothing. They often site China as a model for the New World Order. [4] They defy God and His authority over them. (See Psalm 2). They believe that man can solve his problems without a god. Humanism is their religion.

Some of these elite eugenicists want to reduce the human population down to about 500 million people. [5] Think about that. In His time, God will crush them with His rod of iron (Revelation 2:27; 12:5; 19:15). While He was here on earth Jesus used a whip of cords to chase out the money changers in the temple (Matthew 21:12, 13; John 2:13-17). If you don’t like what He did and will do to His enemies, maybe you’re trusting in the wrong Jesus. [6]

God will allow these foolish and arrogant men who deny His existence (Psalm 2; 14:1; Romans 1:18-32) to try their experiment but He will limit their plan to seven years (Daniel 9:27). If He let them have longer than that, no flesh would survive on earth (Matthew 24:22).

During this dark period of human history, over ½ of the world’s population will die (Revelation 6:8; 9:15). With all that is happening in the world today, these days seem to be right around the corner. The stage seems to be set, and many of the main actors are on board. [7]

Most of the non-Jewish people who enter into this seven year period, and who don’t take “the mark of the beast” (Revelation 13:16-18; 16:2; 19:20) will be killed or die of starvation. But a few of them will survive by eking out a living.

When the true 144,000 Jewish Jehovah’s Witnesses (Revelation 7:1-8) come to their door and tell them about the Gospel of the “Kingdom of the heavens” (Daniel 2:44, 45; Matthew 4:17; 10:7), and they believe their message about the returning King Jesus, they will be willing to give to them what little bit of the food and water they have. On their judgment day, King Jesus will say to them, “‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me’” (Matthew 25:40). This verse is often misapplied to include everyone.

The Jews, having learned not to bow down and worship idols while they were in Babylon for 70 years, will refuse the mark of the beast and be preserved by God in Petra (Sela), which is in Jordan, during the last half of the Tribulation for 3 ½ years (Matthew 24:15 ff; Isaiah 16:1). This period is known as “the time of Jacob’s [Israel’s] trouble” when men will experience terrible pain like a woman in labor (Jeremiah 30:7).

God will provide for them what they need to survive just as He did for the Jews in the wilderness for forty years (Deuteronomy 2:7). But, sadly, there will be unbelieving, rebellious Jews who will have to be “weeded out.” It is our understanding that two thirds of these Jews will die by means of the “Trumpet Judgments” (Zechariah 13:8; Revelation 8, 9).

If you are an unbeliever (non-Christian) who goes into this seven year period, you will probably choose to take the “mark of the beast” on your forehead or right hand (Revelation 13:16) as a way of expressing your allegiance to this false Messiah (“Man of Sin – Antichrist”) while hoping to become an advanced 2.0 transhuman being.

Eve wanted to be like God (Genesis 3:1-7). “Then the serpent [the devil – See Revelation 12:9; 20:2] said to the woman, ‘You will not surely die. [This was a lie.] For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil’” (Genesis 3:4, 5). This last part was true but it wasn’t good for them and caused them to act independently of God. The devil tempts Christians today to act independently of God too.

Those who voluntarily take his mark will be doomed and cannot be saved. It’s an unforgivable sin. They will be tormented here on earth (Revelation 14:9-11; 16:2), and also in the lake of fire forever with the devil and his angels/demons (Matthew 25:30, 41, 46).

Now is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). My friend, you have no guarantee that you will be alive by the end of today. Our lives are like a vapor that vanishes away (James 4:14; See Proverbs 27:1).

To be saved / delivered from having to spend eternity with the devil and his angels/demons in the lake of fire, and to live with God in heaven (John 14:1-3), we must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ alone, Who died for our sins…and rose again bodily from the dead on the third day (Acts 16:31; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4).

We are not saved by our good works or by our faith plus our good works lest anyone should boast (Ephesians 2:8, 9; Titus 3:5). Jesus paid our debt to God (Romans 6:23). God the Father was satisfied with His sacrificial death on our behalf and proved this by raising Jesus bodily from the dead (Romans 4:25).

One Day Closer

With each day that passes, we are one day closer to seeing one of Christ’s promises to His disciples being fulfilled. It should give every true Christian zest for living and cause us to live pure lives and anticipate His giving to some of us, who have earned it, the “Crown of Righteousness” (1 John 3:2; 2 Timothy 4:8).

Our salvation cost Jesus Christ His life, but it is freely offered to believers. But crowns, rewards, and praise are earned. If you’re a Christian, will you receive this and other crowns from Him? What will you do with them? (See Revelation 4:10, 11). [1]

This event was a mystery in the Old Testament but unveiled to believers during Christ’s earthly ministry just before He went to the cross to die for our sins…and rise again bodily from the dead on the third day (John 14:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, 51, 52; Romans 16:25, 26).

His disciples were anxiously waiting for Him to set up the “Kingdom of the Heavens” where He would be the King and they would rule with Him (Daniel 2:44, 45; Matthew 3:2; 4:17; 20:21; Luke 19:15-19). [2]

But because the majority of the Jews rejected Him as their promised Messiah, and His claim to be God (John 5:16-18;10:30, 31), Jesus postponed the setting up of His Kingdom on/over the earth and told His disciples that He was going go to the cross and die for the sins of the whole world – both Jews and non-Jews, and then rise again bodily from the dead (Psalm 16:10; Luke 24:46). God is NOT finished with the Jewish nation (Romans 11). The Church has NOT replaced Israel. [3]

The Apostle Peter opposed and rebuked the Lord for talking about dying. In return, the Lord rebuked the devil for using Peter to try to thwart God’s plan for the salvation of mankind (Matthew 16:20-23; John 3:16).

This is the background to the words that Jesus said to His disciples on the night He was betrayed by one of His own disciples, Judas. Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions [dwelling places]; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you [i.e. one place for all of you]. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:1-3). We understand that this place is described for us in Revelation 21:9 ff. [4]

These words of Jesus were spoken over 2,000 years ago and they cause many scoffers today to deny His promise to come again (2 Peter 3:3). Why the delay? Simply because not all whom God the Father has given to God the Son (Jesus) have come to Him and been saved through the proclamation of the Gospel (John 6:37; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4). These saved people make up the “Body of Christ” which becomes His Bride (Ephesians 5:32, 33; Revelation 22:17). Are you sharing the clear Gospel with lost people?

“What kind of Christian do you need to be to lead someone to Jesus Christ? You don’t need to be a brilliant person with a clever mind, but a broken person with a clear message.” – Evangelist Dr. R. Larry Moyer.

If you’re rightly related to Christ, with your known sins confessed to God (Galatians 5:16; Ephesians 5:18; 1 John 1:9), and not a carnal Christian, we encourage you to memorize and share this message with lost people: “Christ died for our sins…and rose again bodily from the dead. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ alone, and you will be saved. Do it now.” (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4; Acts 15:31; Ephesians 2:8, 9). [5]

Sadly, most people won’t put their faith and trust in Christ alone to be saved. They love darkness rather than light and the passing pleasures of sin (John 3:19; Hebrews 11:25). Some people think Christ’s death wasn’t necessary because they aren’t that bad. Others think He didn’t do enough and so they try to add their good works to His. (See Romans 3:10-23; Ephesians 2:8, 9; Isaiah 64:6) Does this describe you?

The True Church – the spiritual “Body of Christ” is made up of true believers from the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2) until the “Rapture” of the true Church (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). The “Rapture” is not to be confused with the “Second Coming of Christ” which happens after the “Seven Years of the Tribulation” (Daniel 9:27). Don’t confuse Israel with the Church (1 Corinthians 10:32). [6]

We believe that the true Church (not the apostate church) will be removed from the earth just before this “Seven Year Tribulation” period begins (Revelation 3:10; 1 Thessalonians 1:10; 5:9). This doesn’t mean that the true church won’t suffer persecution before Christ returns for His Church. “…all [Christians] who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12).

Some people, who claim to be Christians, believe that Christ arose in spirit only, not bodily (2 John 1:7). But the Apostle Paul insisted that the bodily resurrection of Christ be included in the Gospel message. For this he suffered and was put in chains (2 Timothy 2:8-10). Are you leaving out the bodily resurrection from your Gospel presentations to the lost? If so, start including it.

The Gospel is the power of God unto a person’s salvation (Romans 1:16). A dead person can’t help anyone. Christ’s resurrection guarantees other resurrections. Do you know in which one you will participate if you die? [7] Some Christians won’t die (1 Corinthians 15:51, 52).

Scripture tells us that Christ’s resurrected, glorified body had flesh and bones, but no blood. It was/is capable of eating food, though not necessary to survive (Luke 24:36-43). Christians will receive a body like His resurrected, glorified body when we see Him face to face at the Rapture (1 John 3:2). It will include a garment of light similar to His (1 Timothy 6:16). What about intermediate bodies? [8]

“The Pre-tribuation Rapture of the True Church” is the result of a normal, historical, grammatical, contextual interpretation of the Bible, in contrast to the allegorical method of interpretation which allows one to interpret the Bible as he pleases. The devil and false teachers use the allegorical method of interpretation (particularly with Bible prophecy) to deceive and mislead people (Genesis 3:1-5; 2 Peter 3:16). You won’t want to spend eternity with them in the lake of fire (Matthew 25:30, 41, 46; 2 Peter 2:17; Jude 1:13).

While there are no “sign miracles” that precede the Rapture of the true Church, there seems to be many indicators (world events) that point to this imminent event. The devil’s counterfeit one world government, religion, and economic system, which seems to be in the making, will precede Christ’s rule over the earth for 1,000 years just as the Bible predicted. [9]

“Prelude”

Prelude = an introductory performance, action, or event preceding and preparing for the principal or a more important matter.

Current Events. We believe that what is currently taking place in our rapidly changing world is but a prelude of things to come that were predicted in the Scriptures. [1] Most people in “Christendom” believe that the prophecies concerning Christ’s first coming, some 2,000 years ago, were fulfilled literally. We believe that the prophecies concerning the Rapture of the Church, and the Second Coming of Christ should also be interpreted literally (i.e. normally, historically, grammatically, and contextually), not allegorically. The first allegorist was the devil when he questioned what God had said and tried to change the meaning of His command to deceive Eve (Genesis 2:17; 3:1-5).

Devil’s Man First. Before Christ sets up His millennial kingdom on/over the whole earth (Daniel 2:44,45; Isaiah 9:6, 7; Revelation 20:1-10), God will allow the devil to set up his “man of sin” (the antichrist), but will limit his rule over all the earth to seven years (Daniel 9:27; Revelation 12, 13). If God were to allow him to have a longer time than that, no flesh on earth would survive to repopulate the Millennial Kingdom of Christ (Matthew 24:22). Some “Globalists” want to reduce the population down from almost 8 billion people to about 500 million people. [2] Think about that.

Repopulate The Earth. After the universal flood, Noah’s three sons and their wives repopulated the whole earth (Genesis 9:1 ff). The language changes took place at the Tower of Babel, and the continental shift began to take place in the days of a man named Peleg (Genesis 10, 11). At the end of the “Seven Year Tribulation” all unbelievers will be removed from the earth (Matthew 24:40, 41; 25:32). The Jewish and non-Jewish believers, who physically survive the Tribulation, will be the ones who will repopulate the earth during the millennium when Christ rules as the King of kings, and Lord of lords (Revelation 19:16).

No Grandchildren? The first generation of believers will have children and grandchildren who will need to be saved spiritually through personal faith in Christ. Why? “God has no grandchildren.” Sadly, while many (perhaps most) of them will restrain their sin nature from manifesting lawless behavior (sin) during the millennium, lest they die immediately (Matthew 5:29, 30), they will join the devil in his final rebellion against God and the Lord Jesus Christ when he (the devil) is released from the sides of the abyss, which is in the heart of the earth, at the end of Christ’s millennial kingdom (Isaiah 14:12 ff; Revelation 20:1-10). At this time the devil and all the unsaved rebells will be cast into the lake of fire to suffer forever (Revelation 20:7-15; 21:8).

The End. Even though the destruction and annihilation of the universe and the planet on which we now live is at least 1,007 years away from now (2 Peter 3:10-13; Revelation 21:1 ff), God wants every Christian to live a holy (morally pure) and godly life now for His glory and the good of others (1 Corinthians 10:31; See Philippians 4:13; Galatians 6:10). If you’ve been saved, are you living this way? Our time on earth is very limited.

Time. We have “potential years” and “actual years.” Will you suffer and die prematurely because of your lawless (sinful) behavior? God chastens and scourges His rebellious children in this life only (there is no Purgatory) so we won’t be condemned with the unsaved people of the world later on (Hebrews 12:5-12). Many Christians have died prematurely and some painfully (Acts 5:1-11; 1 Corinthians 11:30-32; James 5:19, 20; 1 John 5:16).

Death. Generally speaking, we are all destined to die physically (Hebrews 9:27). There have been and there will be some exceptions to this rule (Enoch – Genesis 5:24; Elijah – 2 Kings 2:1, 11; Some Christians – 1 Corinthians 15:51, 52; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). Our lives are like a vapor that appears for a little time and then it vanishes away (James 4:14). When death comes to you, where will you go and what will happen to you?

Annihilation of the wicked dead and reincarnation are not taught in the Scriptures. The last enemy that Jesus will destroy is death (1 Corinthians 15:26). He will do this by raising everyone back to life – either to spend eternity in the lake of fire with the devil and his angels/demons, or in God’s presence. After this happens, eternity future will begin. (See our Bible Study Book Marker.)

Destiny. Are you sure you’ll go to heaven immediately when you die? Some folks don’t want to go there because they hate God and His rules and love darkness rather than light (John 3:19; Revelation 13:16; 16:19). My friend, if you go to the lake of fire (hell), no one will really care about you because they will be concerned about their own suffering, not your suffering (Matthew 25:30, 41, 46; Revelation 21:8).

Gospel. You can avoid hell and enter heaven by placing your faith and trust in the Christ of the Scriptures alone, (not the Christ of the cults), [3] Who died for your sins, was buried, and rose again bodily on the third day (Acts 16:31; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4). [4] We are NOT saved by our good works (Ephesians 2:8, 9; Titus 3:5).

“Anticipation is the emotion we experience when we are expecting something to happen (good or bad), where we are left in a state of anxious suspense. Some people may feel excited, and others may just feel nervous. Anticipatory concerns are the thoughts we have while feeling anticipation. Anticipatory emotions could include fear, anxiety, hope and trust.” – Source unknown

Does what is happening in the world right now concern or frighten you? Are you afraid some madman might push a button and annihilate all life from the earth? (Consider our frightening experience.) [1] Does “climate change” dominate your thinking? Are you struggling financially to make ends meet? What comes to your mind when you hear the word “Armageddon”? In your opinion, what does the future look like – gloomy or bright? Are you following the news? If so, which news? Is it reliable or fake? Whom can / should you trust? Upon what do you base your beliefs and how do you make your decisions? [2]

World Leaders. Most of them have advisors and counselors to help them make decisions to achieve their desired objectives and goals. For many of them “The end justifies the means.” I think that you probably will agree with me that things aren’t looking good right now and that we may need a “New World Order.” The big question is, Who will run it – God’s man or the devil’s man?

Your Thoughts & Dreams. What do you believe and anticipate will happen in the future? Who or what influences your thinking? If you have a clearly defined, noble dream and have set goals for yourself, ask yourself these questions: By when (time frame) do I want to accomplish this? What obstacles might I face along the way? What people, groups, and organizations do I need to help me achieve my dream? What new skills do I need to develop? What specific steps do I need to take? And most importantly, WHY do I want to achieve this particular dream? [3] One more important question – Have you included God’s Word and His will for your life into your planning? If you’re a Christian, please read James 4:13-17 to avoid wasting your time and acting lawlessly with dire consequences. “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12).

The Future. Can anyone know the future with any degree of certainty? If so, how? What are you anticipating / expecting to happen? Upon what are you beliefs based? Is it the Bible? What if you are being misled by a false teacher and end up in the lake of fire to suffer forever (Matthew 25:30, 41, 46)? Maybe you’ve taken the attitude, “Que sera, sera – Whatever will be, will be”? Have you lost hope? Are you superstitious? If you are, you’re not alone, even though it’s the wrong way to make decisions. (See James 4:15).

Superstitious World Leaders. Napoleon’s actions were often directed by two things: his fear of cats and the number 13. Mary Queen of Scots reigned from 1542 to 1567 and many accounts indicate that she made important decisions based on her tarot readings. Winston Churchill surrounded himself with cats that allegedly brought him good luck while he battled the apparent dark influences of the number 13, Friday and travel in general. Similarly across the Atlantic, President Roosevelt hated travelling [on] Fridays and the number 13. Hitler was terrified of cats and had them banned from all Nazi installations. His quest for the occult, including the search for the spear of destiny said to have pierced the side of Jesus Christ, became legendary but did not do much to help him in the end. With varying degrees, from President Truman’s lucky horseshoe in the Oval Office to President’s Reagan’s executive seer, Joan Quigley, superstition has been taking the punch out of democracy for centuries now. [4] Is it any wonder that the world is in such a mess?

The Right Way. The Christian’s decisions in life can/should be made by taking God’s Word and His will for our lives into consideration (James 4:13-17). His Word, the Bible is totally accurate and reliable. Jesus said, “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” (John 17:17). He also said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). If God and His Word aren’t true, Christians are deluded and most pitiable for believing the Gospel which tells us that Christ died for our sins…and rose again bodily from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4, 12-19).

Bible Prophecy. Since the prophecies concerning Christ’s first coming were fulfilled literally, we believe that the prophecies concerning His second coming will be fulfilled literally too. (Sadly, many “Bible teachers” within Christendom don’t interpret Bible prophecy literally or normally as they should be interpreted and so they mislead many people.) While we don’t know all the details concerning the future, we have been given enough information to give us hope (a confident expectation based on a promise from God Who cannot lie) that “God wins” in the end.

The Order. “It’s darkest just before the dawn.” We believe that currently the stage is being set and very soon God is going to allow the devil, the man of sin (antichrist), and the false prophet to rule the world for seven years (Daniel 9:27). During this time over ½ of the world’s population will die (Revelation 6:8; 9:15). Then Christ will return to this earth (Acts 1:9-11; Matthew 24:29-31), destroy His and the Jewish believers’ enemies (Psalm 2:9; Zechariah 14:1-15; Revelation 19:11-16). He will set up His “Thousand Year Reich” over the whole world and the devil will be bound in the abyss (in the heart of the earth) during this time (Revelation 20:1-10). But the Beast (Antichrist) and the False Prophet will be cast live into the lake of fire to suffer forever (Revelation 19:20). My friend, you don’t have to go this awful place.[5]

Your Future. To get out of the devil’s “kingdom of darkness”and enter the “kingdom of God’s dear Son” you must place your faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ alone, Who died for your sins…and rose again bodily on the third day (Acts 16:31; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4). [6] Note: We are NOT saved by our good works (Ephesians 2:8, 9; Titus 3:5).

Understanding and Illumination. [7] Once you become a true Christian, God the Holy Spirit acts as the Divine Teacher who is ready to illuminate your mind to the truth that is found in the Scriptures (John 14:26; 16:13). He also uses Christians to share the Gospel with lost people so they can be saved (Acts 1:8; Ephesians 4:11 ff). Once saved, He wants all Christians to grow spiritually (2 Peter 3:18). [8]

Fear Not. While the devil and demons are much more powerful than humans are, we don’t need to fear them “because He [God] who is in [every Christian] is greater than he [the devil] who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). “Perfect love casts out fear” (1 John 4:18; See John 14:1-3).

Abide In Him. If you’re a Christian, do you abide (feel at ease) in God’s presence; does He abide (feel at ease) with you (John 15:1 ff)? Are you grieving (Ephesians 4:30) or quenching Him (1 Thessalonians 5:19)? Is there any unconfessed sin in your life that is keeping you from enjoying family fellowship with Him and other believers (1 John 1:5-9)?

Crown Of Righteousness. Christians can earn this crown by loving and anticipating His imminent return for the true Church, His Bride-to-Be (2 Timothy 4:8)? Are you allowing Him to live out His life through your life (Galatians 2:20; 4:19)?

“He Laughs At Them”

While the devil and his agents (the wicked men of this world – Ephesians 2:2; John 8:44) plot and scheme in an attempt to overthrow God and try to bring in “world peace” without the “Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6), God laughs at them and holds them in derision (Psalm 2). Consider what some of these rebels are doing and saying. [1]

Believers. “Fret not because of evil doers…They will be cut down soon…” (Psalm 37:1, 2). God is omnipotent, and no one can overthrow Him (Revelation 1:8). We are in God’s good hands (John 10:28, 29). Nothing can separate us from God’s love (Romans 8:38, 39). But God wants us to “Be sober, be vigilant; because [our] adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peer 5:8).

Warning – Non-Christians. If you’re not a Christian, you should be very concerned about what is happening in the world today. Don’t let the devil lull you into spiritual sleep (1 John 5:19). You need to get out of Satan’s kingdom of darkness now and into God’s family (Colossians 1:13) by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ alone, Who died for your sins…and rose again bodily on the third day (Acts 16:31; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4).

Tribulation. It seems that, in the very near future, as the Bible has predicted, God is going to let the wicked have their way for seven years (Daniel 9:27) to demonstrate, once and for all, that they cannot bring in “world peace” without Him (John 15:5; 1 Thessalonians 5:3; Revelation 6:1 ff). If God were to allow them to have more than seven years, no flesh on earth would survive (Mathew 24:22).

Depopulation. During this time of “Tribulation” (Revelation 6-19) over ½ of the world’s population will die (Revelation 6:8; 9:18) from 21 judgments and plagues. But God will not allow the devil or evil men to totally annihilate humanity from this planet that is in revolt against Him and His Christ (Mark 14:13-20; John 18:40). In the end, God wins, not Satan (Revelation 20:10).

Globalists. There are Globalists who would like to reduce the population of the world from about 8 billion people down to 500 million people. [2] Think about that for a moment. They consider many people to be nothing more than “useless eaters.” Some (maybe all) of them are eugenicists who have no qualms about murdering babies, handicapped people, or some older people through euthanasia. Question – Who made them God?

“Blood On Jewish Children?” When Jesus was on trial, Pilate, the Roman governor, became very frustrated with the wicked Jewish leaders and the people who hated Jesus and wanted Him crucified because He didn’t meet their expectations of the Messiah. They wanted a political deliverer, a “Welfare King” (John 6:15, 66), not a spiritual one. This is true even to this day.

Relentless. They were persistent in their demands. And so “When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all [against these Jewish people], but rather that a tumult was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, ‘I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it.’ And all the people answered and said, ‘His blood be on us and on our children.’” (Mathew 27:24, 25). [3]

Sad Story. Is this one of the reasons why the Jews have been persecuted continually by other nations since then? The devil hates the Jews and doesn’t want God to fulfill His promises to them. Know this – God is NOT finished with the Jews (Romans 11:1 ff). Don’t curse them or face serious consequences (Genesis 12:1-3). Future prediction – “And this shall be the plague with which the LORD will strike all the people who fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh shall dissolve while they stand on their feet, Their eyes shall dissolve in their sockets, And their tongues shall dissolve in their mouths” (Zechariah 14:12).

Replaced? The Church has NOT replaced Israel. [4] There is a bright future awaiting Jewish believers who will cry out when Christ [their true Messiah], Who was rejected, returns to this earth to rescue them from total annihilation.

Armageddon.This will take place (perhaps in the very near future) when all the nations of the earth come against the Jews at a place called Armageddon, located in northern Israel (Zechariah 12:1-14; 14:1-9; Revelation 16:16). As Christ descends in a cloud of glory against a totally darkened sky (Matthew 24:29-31; Acts 1:9-11), they will cry out and say, “Hosanna to the Son of David! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’ Hosanna in the highest!” (Psalm 118:26; Matthew 23:39).

Christ’s Kingdom. When Christ (Messiah) returns to establish His 1,000 rule over the whole earth (Isaiah 9:6, 7; Revelation 20:1 ff), He will crush and defeat all the unbelieving rebels (Revelation 2:9, 27; 12:5; 19:15; Psalm 2:9). The Jewish and non-Jewish believers who physically survive this seven year “holocaust” will be the ones who will repopulate the earth (Matthew 24:13), just as Noah’s three sons and their wives repopulated the earth in which we now live (Genesis 9).

One Race. There is only “one race” – the “human race” (Acts 17:26). Don’t believe the lie of evolution. [5] There are many ethnic groups and languages that came into existence at “The Tower Of Babel” when God changed their one language into many languages (Genesis 10, 11; See Revelation 5:9; 13:7; 14:6). This is also the time when the continental shift began to take place (Genesis 10:25).

God Is Sovereign. He is in control of everything and nothing takes Him by surprise and nothing man does happens without His permission. His purpose is to glorify Himself by letting His creatures know that He is everything He says He is (John 17:1-5; Exodus 3:14). If you’re a Christian, are you glorifying Him in all that you do? (1 Corinthians 10:31)

Knowledge. You may know and believe many facts that are found in the Bible. You may even believe the facts of the Gospel that Christ died for your sins…and rose again bodily on the third day. But not until you transfer your faith and trust from yourself and your good works over to Christ alone to save you, are you actually saved from eternal condemnation (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4; Ephesians 2:8, 9; Acts 16:31; Romans 8:1). Have you done this yet? If not, why not right now?

When The Cup Is Full

God has been and continues to be very long suffering toward us sinners. He is not willing that any should perish but that all of us should come to repentance (have a change of mind) and be saved by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ alone, Who died for our sins…and rose again bodily on the third day. We are NOT saved by our good works or by our faith plus our good works (Ephesians 2:8, 9; Titus 3:5).

There is a limit to God’s long suffering. He is a righteous God and will bring judgment on those individuals who reject His offer of salvation (John 3:18; 16:8-11; Matthew 25:41, 46). “The wicked shall be turned into hell, And all the nations that forget God” (Psalm 9:17).

God Himself knows when the “cup of iniquity” is full and when its time for judgment. He often uses one nation to punish other sinful nations. He even used the wicked Babylonians to punish the idolatrous Jews and deport them out of their homeland for 70 years. (See Daniel 1:1, 2; 9:2; Genesis15:16; 18; 19; Jude 1; Revelation 17:1-6.)

God is the One who told the descendants of Noah and his three sons to scatter over all the earth. But they disobeyed God, set up the tower of Babel to unite all the people. So God came down and changed their languages which forced them to separate from each other. (See Genesis 10, 11.) BTW – We’re all descendants of Noah and his three sons.

Today, as the Scriptures predicted, we can see the stage being set for the Devil’s counterfeit New World Order with a One World Government, a One World Religion, and a One World Economic System in defiance of God. God will allow him and sinful men seven years to implement their diabolical plan which will be responsible for over half of the world’s population to die (Revelation 6:8; 9:18). Then the Lord Jesus Christ will return and crush all the rebels (Psalm 2; Revelation 19:11-21) and set up His 1,000 year reign of peace on the earth (Revelation 20:1-10; Isaiah 2:4; 11:1 ff).

This will prove, once and for all, that sinful mankind cannot bring lasting peace to this world without the “Prince of Peace – the Lord Jesus Christ” (Isaiah 9:6, 7). God is opposed to the efforts of sinful men to bring about their “New World Order” under Satan’s control.

The Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse

Perhaps you’ve seen pictures of them on a white horse, a red horse, a black horse, and a pale green horse. But maybe you don’t know what they represent. They are mentioned in the Book of Revelation chapter six and refer to four conditions that may take place in the very near future shortly after the “Man of sin” (Anti-Christ) signs a 7 year agreement with the Jewish people to ensure their peace and safety (Daniel 9:27).  The Jews need and want this now more than ever. 

Anti-Semitism. Once again hatred for the Jews is on the rise and, believe it or not, it will continue to get much worse.  Today three major religions are struggling over the city of Jerusalem which is likened to a heavy stone for all peoples (Zechariah 12:3).

  Armageddon.  Eventually, at the end of the “Great Tribulation,” all the nations of the world will come against the Jews to a place in northern Israel called Armageddon (Revelation 16:16).  But the Lord Jesus Christ Himself (their Messiah) will descend from heaven to deliver the believing Jewish remnant in the nick of time (Revelation 19:11-19; Zechariah 12:8-14; 14:1-15; Matthew 23:39).

  Rapture.  True, the word “rapture” isn’t found in the English translation of the Scriptures, but it accurately conveys the concept of being “caught up” to meet the Lord in the air (1 Thessalonians 4:17).  This event has no “Biblical” signs that precede it.  It can happen at any moment and it will fulfill Christ’s promise to His disciples and to all true believers of this “Dispensation of Grace” in which we now live (John 14:1-3; Ephesians 3:1-5).  Remember, a thousand years to us is like a day to God (2 Peter 3:8).

  The Order Of Coming Events.  [1] After the Rapture (snatching away) of the true Church, but before the Anti-Christ and the Jews sign the seven year agreement, most Jews must be back in the land of Israel (Daniel 9:27).  Something apparently happens after the Rapture of the true church to make the Jews in other countries want to return to the land of Israel that God promised to give to them in an unconditional covenant (Genesis 15:18).  Ten kings (leaders) from the region of the Revived Roman Empire also must be in power (Revelation 17:12, 13), and the world wide harlot religion must be in it’s place and have power (Revelation 17:3) which they will give to the Anti-Christ (Man of Sin).

  Judgments.  There are three sets of seven judgments (21 judgments): 7 Seals, 7 Trumpets, and 7 Bowl judgments (Revelation 6-19).  The “Seven Seal Judgments” will take place during the first half of the seven year tribulation and are designed for the Gentile (non-Jewish) nations (Revelation 6:1-16; 8:1).  These judgments will not harm the Jews in Israel who have a signed agreement (covenant) with the Anti-Christ (Matthew 24:6).

  White Horseman (First seal judgment).  This represents the condition of false peace that will be made between the Anti-Christ and Israel (Daniel 9:27; 1 Thessalonians 5:3).

  Red Horseman (Second seal judgment).  This represents the war in which the Anti-Christ will depose three of the ten kings (rulers) who want their power back after they become disillusioned with him (Daniel 2:43; 7:8, 23ff).  Perhaps he will use weapons of mass destruction to destroy these three kings and their countries.

  Black Horseman (Third seal judgment).  This represents the terrible famine that will follow in the wake of this war.  It will engulf the non-Jews, but it will not affect the Jews living in the land of Israel.  They will enjoy plenty of food while other people in the rest of the world are starving.  This will be one of the reasons why Russia and her Arab allies will come down on Israel to take a spoil (Ezekiel 38:11 ff). They’re hungry.

  Pale Horseman (Fourth seal judgment).  This represents death when one fourth of the world’s population will die (Revelation 6:8).  Later, during the sixth trumpet judgment, another one third of the world’s population will die (Revelation 9:15). This means that over ½ of the world’s population will die during this “Seven Year Tribulation.” (Consider the Globalists’ New World Order agenda.) [2]

  Martyrs  (Fifth seal judgment).  Apparently these are Gentiles who become believers in the true and living God after the Rapture of the true Church. They will be martyred (killed) by the apostate church.

  War (Sixth seal judgment).  When Russia and her Arab allies come against Israel in the middle of the seven year tribulation to take a spoil, the Anti-Christ will come to Israel’s deliverance and fight against them and destroy them (Ezekiel 38, 39).  [3] But during this battle, the Anti-Christ also will be killed but then be brought back to life and amaze the whole world (Revelation 13:3, 12, 14).  Then he will demand that the Jews worship him as god.  They will refuse to do this (Matthew 24:15-28).  Since the Devil couldn’t get Jesus to worship him (Matthew 4:8-10), he will try to get God’s chosen people to worship his human representative on earth.  But the Jews won’t fall down before him.  Idol worship was something that the Jews had learned not to do while they were captives in Babylon for 70 years (Daniel 3:1-18).

  Silence In Heaven (Seventh seal judgment).  At the middle of the “Seven Year Tribulation” there will be silence in heaven for ½ hour because this will be the first time in human history that one man will have complete domination over the whole world like never before. He will demand that everyone worship him and take his mark (666) if he/she wants to buy, sell, or trade during the last 3 ½ years, known as the “Great Tribulation” and “The Time of Jacob’s (Israel’s) Trouble” (Revelation 13:17; Jeremiah 30:7; Matthew 24:15 ff).  Those who take his mark are doomed. (No, the “Jab” is not the “Mark of the Beast.” – Revelation 13:11-18) [4]

  Jews Persecuted.  When the “Man of Sin” (Anti-Christ) breaks his agreement with the Jews, he will not allow them to continue to offer any more sacrifices in the rebuilt temple.  The false prophet will have the Anti-Christ’s image put in the rebuilt Jewish temple, and the Jews will flee to Petra, which is also known as Sela (Isaiah 16:1; Revelation 12:13-17).  Then God will miraculously protect the Jewish remnant (believers) for the rest of the seven years of tribulation.  Two thirds of the Jews (the rebels) will be cut off and die during the second half of the Tribulation (Zechariah 13:8). Then the Jews will come to realize that God is once again dealing with them (Romans 11:25).

  Two Witnesses.  These two Jewish men will be in the city of Jerusalem for the last 3 ½ years of the Seven Year Tribulation and will have God’s power to devour their enemies (Revelation 11:3-12).  The 144,000 Jews, from the twelve tribes of Israel, will evangelize the whole world with the “Gospel of the Kingdom” during the last half of the tribulation (Revelation 7:4-8; Matthew 24:14).  It is not the same Gospel which one must believe today to be saved (1 Corinthians 15:1-8).

  The Great Tribulation.  To the dismay of those living on the earth at this time, the last half of the tribulation will be far worse than the first half.  The Trumpet and Bowl Judgments will devastate the whole earth.  God hasn’t abandoned the Jews forever and He hasn’t replaced the Jews with the Church (Romans 11:1). [5] These are two separate and unique groups (1 Corinthians 10:32).  God will fulfill all the unconditional promises that He made with the Jews.  Otherwise Christians can’t be sure that He will fulfill His promises to us (Romans 15:4).

Look Up. You don’t need to be told that we are living in a very troubled world today. Jesus said, “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near” (Luke 21:25-28).

  Questions.  Where will you be when all these things happen?  Are you sure?  Where will you spend eternity?  Have you placed your faith exclusively in the Lord Jesus Christ who died for your sins and rose again?  If not, why not trust Him right now before it’s too late? [6]

The Crown Of Righteousness. Christians who love the Lord’s imminent return for us will be more likely to live God honoring, righteous lives and earn this crown (2 Timothy 4:8). So, keep looking up. Perhaps Today!

“HELPLESS, HOPELESS, HELL-BOUND, HEATHEN?”

What about them? I’ve been asked this question on several occasions. Without hearing and believing in/on the Christ of the Scriptures, Who died for our sins…and rose again bodily from the dead on the third day, people will end up in the lake of fire forever. It’s a real place to which people will go (Matthew 25:41, 46; Mark 9:42-48; Revelation 20:10-15; 21:8). But no human being needs to go there.

Anyone can look around at nature and come to the realization that there must be a God who is all powerful. There is no excuse for unbelief (Romans 1:20). The Psalmist wrote, “The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard” (Psalm 19:1-3). Even a blind man can feel the warmth of the sun or smell the fragrance of a flower.

God, Who is omnipotent and all knowing, can see to it than anyone (Jewish or not) who truly desires to know more about Him can/will receive the Good News concerning Christ that is the power of God unto his/her salvation (Romans 1:16, 17; 10:9-17). It might be through a radio or TV broadcast, a missionary, or a clear Gospel tract. It is God’s desirous will that all men and women, boys and girls be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4).

Why don’t people come to the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved? “He who believes in Him [the Lord Jesus Christ] is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name [person and work] of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil” (John 3:18, 19). What about you? What do you really love?

When a person chooses to worship and exalt the creature (man) rather than the Creator, God often gives him/her up to uncleanness, to vile passions, and to a debased mind (Read carefully Romans 1:20-32). This kind of behavior is seen all around us today as the Scriptures predicted (1 Timothy 4:1 ff; 2 Timothy 3:1ff; 2 Peter 2:1 ff; Jude 1). What about rulers and politicians, who usually come from the basest of mankind (Daniel 4:17. 25)? We are supposed to pray for them too (1 Timothy 2:1-4).

The ultimate expression of humanism will be on display when the “Man of Lawlessness” (the Antichrist) gains total domination over the whole world during the middle of the “Seven Years of Tribulation” (Revelation 13:8; 2 Thessalonians 2:4; Daniel 9:27; 11:36). He will be empowered by the devil and have an assistant (the false prophet) with equal power and authority.

A former Belgian Prime Minister, Paul-Henri Spaak, who was one of the founding fathers of the European Union spoke ‘prophetically’ into the current climate surrounding the EU and the economic chaos. The prospect is chillingly real.”We do not want another committee, we have too many already.  What we want is a man of sufficient stature to hold the allegiance of all people, and to lift us out of the economic morass into which we are sinking. Send us such a man, and be he god or devil, we will receive him.”

Whether you want to believe it or not, we seem to be on the verge of a great transformation (“The Great Reset” [1]) that the rich and powerful people of the world are pushing at this very moment. Mankind, as a whole, doesn’t want God to rule over them. The Psalmist wrote, “Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, ‘Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us’” (Psalm 2:1-3). May we suggest that you read the entire Psalm and heed the advice lest you be crushed with a rod of iron? (Read also Revelation 2:27; 12:5; 19:15).

“Earth’s Golden Era”

Over many centuries people have asked themselves these questions: “Where did I come from?” “Why I am here on earth?” “Where will I go when I die?” They also want to know if there ever will be lasting “peace on earth.” If so, when and how will it come?

Many rich and powerful people in the secular world, who hate God and His Messiah/Christ (Psalm 2), say that peace will come only after they bring in their “New World Order” that will consist of a one world government, a one world religion, and a one world economic system. They want people to gullibly sing John Lennon’s song, “Imagine” while thinking that socialism/communism is the best form of government. It isn’t, but it’s better than anarchy and lawlessness (1 John 3:4; Romans 13:1 ff).

Contrary to what many people think, the secular globalists have other thoughts in mind, where there is the ruling class, and the servant class as it is in communist countries today. They have specific guidelines to achieve their objectives and to maintain them. (Consider the Georgia Guide Stones.) [1] The Bible predicts that these things will happen one of these days – perhaps much sooner than most people realize. It’s time to be informed with the truth that can set people free (John 8:32; 14:6; 17:17).

In his well written book entitled, “What On Earth Is God Doing?” the late Dr. Renald Showers talks about “Earth’s Golden Age.” He wrote, “When [the Lord Jesus Christ] establishes the theocratic kingdom [here on earth, which will last for 1,000 years, He] will begin to reverse many of the tragic consequences of man’s rebellion in Eden. He will make all animals tame again (Isaiah 11:6-9; 65;25), heal all diseases and deformities (Isaiah 33:24; 35:5, 6); eliminate hazards (Ezekiel 34:25-29); increase the lifespan of man (Isaiah 65:20, 22); cause a great abundance of trees and fruit (Isaiah 55:13; Ezekiel 47:12; Joel 2:21, 22), fish (Ezekiel 47:9, 10), and grain and wine (Joel 2:24; Amos 9:13); control the environment for the benefit of man (Ezekiel 34:26, 27); heal the effects of pollution (Ezekiel 47:1-12); and abolish war and injustice (Isaiah 2:2-4; 9:6, 7; 11:2-5; Jeremiah 23:5; Micah 4:1-3; Zechariah 9:9-10). All of these changes will constitute what Christ and Peter called ‘the regeneration,’ the ‘seasons of refreshing,’ and ‘the times of restoration of all things’ (Matthew 19:28; Acts 3:19-21). Truly, this will be the present earth’s golden age.” [2] Believe it or not, according to the Scriptures, these days could come to this earth in as few as seven years from now [5]. You might ask, “Why not now?”

Prior to this “Golden Era,” the Scriptures teach that there will be a counterfeit “New World Order” that will be governed by the “unholy trinity” consisting of the devil/Lucifer, the man of sin/antichrist, and the false prophet. The man of sin/antichrist will perform the same kind of miracles that Christ and His disciples performed while there were here on earth (2 Thessalonians 2:1-12; Acts 2:22).

During this seven year period, known as the “Tribulation,” over ½ of the world’s population will die from 21 judgments and plagues that are recorded for us in the Book of Revelation chapters 6-19. The secular “Globalists” want to reduce the world’s population down to 500 million and maintain it there through eugenics. [1] Think about how many people will have to be eliminated. Will you be included in that number? We believe that just as the ten plagues that took place in Egypt in the days of Moses were literal, so the ones in the day of the future “Tribulation” will be literal too.

The Jewish and non-Jewish believers in the Lord Jesus Christ who physically survive this unparalleled time in human history will be the ones will who repopulate the “Golden Age.” Old Testament believers will be resurrected back to life with glorified bodies (Daniel 12:1 ff) and will live on the earth and have various duties (Matthew 19:28; Luke 19:17-19). King David will be resurrected and will rule over other kings on earth (Jeremiah 30:9; See Revelation 19:16). The New Testament Christians [3], as the “Bride of Christ,” will reign with Christ over the whole world from the heavenly New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:9 ff) which will be visible to the residents on earth once a day. This city will be the source of light for the earth for 1,000 years since the sun will go out at the end of the Great Tribulation (Matthew 24:29; Revelation 16:8 ff).

Prior to this awful time of Tribulation in human history, the Scriptures record for us Christ’s words concerning His coming back for true Christians whom He will take to heaven to live with Him forever (John 14:1-3; See 1 Corinthians 15:51, 52; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). This event is called “The Rapture.” It’s imminent (i.e. it can happen at any moment). It’s the next event on God’s calendar. “A Man With A Plan”

The wicked men of this world who hate God and His children (Psalm 2; John 15:18; 16:2) are taking advantage of the current crisis to try to bring in their “One World Government, One World Religion, and a One World Economic System” that the Bible predicted would come. We all want peace on earth. But these unbelieving “antichrists” (1 John 2:18) think that they can bring peace to this earth without God’s help. The United Nations is a classic example of man’s attempts to bring in world peace. Some “Professing Christians” are trying to usher in Christ’s Kingdom on earth through social reforms and by cleaning up society first. Sorry, it won’t and can’t happen. Jesus said, “Without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

Prior to the time when the Lord Jesus Christ sets up His literal kingdom on/over the earth (Daniel 2: 44, 45; Matthew 3:2; 4:17; 5:3, 10, 19), which will last for 1,000 years (Revelation 10:1-7), there will be another “man with a plan” whom God will permit to rule over the entire world for seven years (Daniel 9:27). If God allowed him to go on any longer, no flesh would survive on earth (Matthew 24:22). Over ½ of the world’s population will die during these seven years. Initially this man will have to share his power and authority with the 10 kings (rulers) from the revived Roman Empire (Daniel 2:41-43; 7:24; Revelation 17:12). But after 3 ½ years he will have complete domination over the whole world. He will demand that those who want to buy or sell things have his mark on their right hand or their forehead (Revelation 13:16, 17).

At this very moment, there is a multi-billionaire who is trying to develop a vaccine to combat the current corona virus. He is a eugenicist who wants everyone to get the vaccinations he’s having produced. He wants them to have a chip implanted with the vaccine that will enable these people to be tracked. They will need this chip if they want to engage in the business of buying or selling. We don’t believe that this particular person is the “man of sin” or the “antichrist” but his actions are a precursor of things to come.
